You have had the opportunity to grow your experience and strengths working your way up the ladder, with a keen understanding of finance and operations. You’ve built your career by combining your strategic, big-picture thinking with your technical skills and expertise and you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and make sure that tasks get done You know the importance of building nimble and scalable financial and operational systems in the portfolio management industry in collaboration with a small but highly driven team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is ideal for a professional that has 5-7 years of relevant experience and is eager to bring their expertise, learn in the role, and grow into a more prominent leadership role in a purpose driven organization.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Lead on key operational areas of the firm’s growing business including setup and operationalizing of related entities and joint ventures, selection, management, and implementation of technology systems and vendor relationships,
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the firm’s day-to-day finance, operations, and compliance needs including payroll, invoicing, monthly P&L, account reconciliation, treasury, internal and external reporting, intercompany billing, vendor management, and corporate and regulatory fillings
- Assis in special projects, such as capital raising and internal audits, on an as-needed basis
- Working with the firm’s CCO and external counsel, lead and manage all aspects of the firm’s compliance program including compliance oversight program, regulatory reporting, conflicts of interest, and other related functions.
- Lead the finance, operations and compliance functions of a growing independent portfolio management firm
- Lead the firm’s annual financial audit including liaising with the auditor and coordinating and preparing audit materials.
- Lead the firm’ strategic financial planning including annual budgeting, ongoing financial analysis, and review of financial performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
On your resume, we ask that you demonstrate the following:
- Experience working with modern, cloud-based digital systems, SaaS, and fully digitized processes
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years working in a finance or accounting capacity
- English/French bilingualism is an asset
- Experience working with a small, dynamic team and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
- Experience working in impact investing and/or private investing would be an asset
- Must have a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, active and in good standing
- Experience at an independent portfolio management firm or in the asset management industry would be a strong asset
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
