We are seeking a talented and seasoned Director of Finance and Legal to join our leadership team. This critical role is responsible for leading our finance and legal functions as we scale the business, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, legal affairs, compliance, contracts, billing, revenue operations and risk management. The Director of Finance and Legal will play a critical role in our strategic decision-making processes, working closely with members of the leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and manage company policies in areas of legal compliance, corporate governance, and business ethics
• Interface with accounting firms and financial institutions
• Ensure all financial operations comply with local and international laws and regulations
• Implement and improve financial systems, processes, controls, and standards
• Design and maintain an up to date financial model of runway, burn rate and revenue forecasting
• Ensure all client billing and contract operations run smoothly
• Own all aspects of financial planning, budget management, and financial reporting
• Work closely with external legal counsel on contractual and corporate legal issues
• Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of experience in financial management at a startup
• Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• At least 8 years of experience in financial management and legal roles within the technology sector, with a proven track record in strategic financial planning and legal compliance
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, or related fields. An MBA or JD is highly desirable.
• Solid knowledge of data analysis, budgeting, business tax planning, and financial and risk management practices
• Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
• Strong ethical stance with a commitment to upholding high standards of conduct and professionalism
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent understanding of laws and regulations for the technology industry

The role is on-site in Toronto, ON.
