The Role:
As a Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial and administrative functions of the Bluewater Energy Team. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in financial management software.

A day in the life
- Prepare various statistical, financial, and accounting reports for management review.
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents as required.
- Perform reception duties as required, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and directing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards.
- Provide administrative support, including but not limited to managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and maintaining office supplies.
- Calculate and prepare entries for payroll and utility, tax, and other bills.
- Reporting and Administrative Support:

- Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Manage Accounts Receivables by issuing invoices, posting payments, and making regular bank deposits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and company policies.
- Manage Accounts Payables by issuing purchase orders, recording vendor bills, and issuing cheques.
- Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes and implement best practices.
- Establish, maintain, and balance various accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements and support external audits, if required.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial and administrative records.
- Prepare trial balance of books and ensure financial statements are accurate and in compliance with accounting standards.
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts to maintain accurate general ledgers.
- Prepare and file quarterly HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) filings.
- Keep accurate financial records using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
- Prepare tax returns and provide other personal bookkeeping services as needed.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Perform monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial data.
- Journal Entries and Financial Statements:
Qualifications:
- Completion of a college program in Bookkeeping
- Must be proficient in QuickBooks Online or Other Accounting Software
- Must have excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be proficient in Gmail
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)
- QuickBooks: 1 year (preferred)
