Job Description
Our client, a prominent company in the property management industry, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated District Accounting Manager to join their team.


As a leader in the field, our client requires a CPA with expertise in property accounting and proficiency in Yardi, an Accounting ERP system.


The ideal candidate will have managerial experience, overseeing a team of at least 2 people, and will play a crucial role in managing financial operations for a portfolio of condo corporations.


Responsibilities


  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess accounting processes, systems, and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and efficiency gains. Lead and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of 3 accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to promote team growth and development.
  • Accounting System Expertise: Utilize and leverage Yardi, the Accounting ERP system, to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive efficiency in property accounting operations.
  • Budget Presentation: Prepare and present annual budgets to the Boards of the condo corporations. Communicate financial analysis, projections, and recommendations to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Internal Controls: Evaluate and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets, maintain data integrity, and minimize financial risks. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance financial controls and ensure accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with property managers, board members, and other stakeholders to address financial inquiries, provide financial insights, and facilitate effective communication and relationship management.
  • Financial Statement Review: Oversee and review approximately 40 Financial Statements each month for a portfolio of condo corporations. Ensure accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Prepare and submit required financial reports to regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare and present periodic performance reports, highlighting key financial metrics, trends, and variances. Provide actionable recommendations to optimize financial performance and achieve organizational goals.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, cost analysis, and trend analysis, to identify areas of improvement, mitigate risks, and support strategic decision-making.


Qualifications And Educational Background


  • Proficiency in Yardi, an Accounting ERP system, is strongly preferred.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proven managerial experience, overseeing a team of 2 or more individuals.
  • Significant experience in property management accounting is essential.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and meeting deadlines.
