Our client located in downtown Toronto is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Accountant looking for advancement to fill the role of a Project Controller. This exciting opportunity involves working with various property development projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

To be considered for this role you must have the 2 non negotiable qualifications listed below.

• Canadian CPA Designation
• A minimum of 5 years of senior-level project accounting experience in the real estate development sector

Responsibilities:

As the Project Controller, you will have the chance to showcase your expertise and contribute to the success of our clients in the property development industry. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing all corporate banking activities, maintaining strong relationships with financial institutions.
• Effectively managing project cash flow, ensuring optimal financial resources allocation and proper risk mitigation.
• Ensuring compliance with all statutory tax filing requirements, minimizing financial risks and maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.
• Designing and implementing a robust cost control system for each project, ensuring cost transparency and efficiency throughout the development lifecycle.
• Overseeing project accounting for multiple simultaneous real estate development projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to financial guidelines.
• Developing comprehensive budgets, conducting forecasts, and providing timely and accurate reports to shareholders and other stakeholders as required.
• Preparing annual year-end financial reporting and providing comprehensive information and working papers to external auditors for financial statements and tax filings.
• Contributing to the annual corporate budgeting process, leveraging your financial expertise to drive strategic planning and growth initiatives.
• Preparing meticulous draw requests to project lenders, facilitating smooth and timely funding processes.
• Collaborating with external project monitors, cost consultants, project managers, and finance and accounting executives, providing monthly financial reports and schedules to support informed decision-making.
• Supporting the VP Finance and VP Development as needed to secure new business opportunities for our clients.
• Embracing other duties and assignments as required, leveraging your versatility and adaptability to contribute to the overall success of our clients.
• Managing corporate cash flow, ensuring effective liquidity management and optimal utilization of financial resources.
• Administering and managing all vendor agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and maintaining productive relationships.
