Financial Controller/Cfo (Remote, Part-Time)

Location: Remote - Candidates in Greater Toronto Area, Calgary, or Vancouver preferred

Our client, a highly reputable organization active in the Energy Sector, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller/CFO to manage and oversee financial reporting and corporate control activities. This part-time, remote role is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team involved in complex Limited Partnership (LP) structures in Canada and the US.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all corporate accounting and financial operations.
• Regularly evaluate the financial planning and budgeting processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with Canadian and US GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
• Provide timely and comprehensive financial updates to senior management and external partners.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Coordinate activities of external auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with Canadian and US GAAP and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Coordinate and manage complex inter-company payments.

Requirements

• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Experience in energy and/or managing complex Limited Partnership (LP) structures in both Canada and the US
• Ability to work closely with a First Nation; understanding of the importance of annual auditing
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
• Excellent communication and people skills
• CA-CPA designation required
• An analytical mind with a strategic ability
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, chief, or senior financial officer
• Solid understanding of financial analysis and forecasting
• Inter-company payment experience

This remote role requires a full commitment of 20 hours per week.
