Internal Job Title: Systems Administrator
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Position Summary
As a Systems Administrator in our Identification (ID) Systems Customer Support group, you will be responsible for ensuring that all system components (application software, hardware, etc.) are operating as designed and system uptime is maintained according to contractual requirements.

What You Will Do
- Build your expertise in a specific area, becoming a SME that will visit customer sites and participate in installations
- Receive inbound customer inquiries (calls/emails) related to system issues, documenting them in our internal ticketing system and maintaining channels of communication with the customer through to resolution
- Various other duties and responsibilities.
- Escalate issues beyond your technical capabilities to the appropriate internal resources, providing detailed documentation regarding the issue itself and all actions taken to date
- Perform basic networking troubleshooting (connectivity, pings, routing, etc.), as well as manage access control and the return material authorization (RMA) process;
- Contribute to/update internal technical troubleshooting guides, capturing details of actions taken to resolve issues
- Triage issues and provide 1st level technical support for application software, workstations, and assorted peripherals (eg., cameras, printers, scanners, etc.)
- You will deploy and support backend infrastructure including servers, storage, and firewalls; And manage infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud;
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
- Basic networking/network security knowledge and experience is an asset
- University degree/college diploma in IT (Computer Science or Engineering/Systems Technician/etc.) or equivalent relevant work experience
- Experience in relevant IT related position(s) is an asset
Hard Skills
- Configuration Mgmt: Puppet, Chef, Terraform (asset)
- Cloud: Azure/AWS (asset)
- Scripting: Python, Powershell, Bashscript
- O/S: Windows, Linux
- Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes;
- Hardware: Workstations, Peripherals, Servers, etc.
- RDMS: Oracle, PostgresSQL;
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational/time management/prioritization skills
Mandatory Requirements
- Ability to work an on-call rotation
- Ability to travel domestically/internationally approx. 2-4 weeks/year
- Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.
