Overview


The Project Coordinator is an integral part of our site Project Management team in organizing our ongoing projects. This involves monitoring project plans, schedules, document control, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner. Liaising with owners and stakeholders to find solutions.


The Project Coordinator is the key lead to ensure compliance to all project documentation needs and to ensure project process controls are in place to allow for design compliance, revenue capture, cost control and safety compliance.


The Project Coordinator is integral in maintaining the capability of the Cement Group to increase revenue and capability. This includes actively participating in building a culture of agility, collaboration, and empowerment (ACE) enabling continuous improvement


This is a 12 - 18 month contract position, with the possibility of a future long-term role.


Responsibilities


Health and Safety:


  • See Something, Do Something! Ensures safe working conditions in site
  • Ensuring the overall safety of the site for all workers, safety procedures are being adhered to at all times.
  • Undertake scheduled job observations or contractor inspections in accordance with communicated schedules
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas


Project Coordination


The Project Coordinator will be responsible for taking the lead in the daily activities associated with:


  • Site inspections are performed on a regular basis to document the progress and quality of construction activities
  • Tracking and ensuring all extra work is preapproved and change orders are in place
  • Managing pre-construction projects, inspections and set-up
  • Assist in expediting invoicing and receiving progresses from subcontractors
  • Execution of QC plan, environmental plan, safety plan, and required permits
  • Delivering and implementing safety orientations if required
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Document control.
  • Undertaking project tasks as required
  • Liaising with Subcontractors, Inspectors and Surveyors
  • Identify any sub-contractors that are restricted (Red/Amber) in Avetta and work with Operations/Contract Admin to rectify the restriction
  • Fulfilling, maintaining, facilitating, and following up on all RFI and transmittal processes.
  • Working with customers and subcontractors prior to billing to ensure alignment of volumes and measures
  • Tracking and measuring all quantities daily
  • In depth understanding of contract measurement of payment
  • Providing administrative support as needed
  • Developing project strategies
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
  • Assisting with creating and updating schedules
  • Processing daily field paperwork
  • Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members
Dimensions:


  • Interacting with project managers, superintendents, foremen, owner, engineers, consultants, general contractor, subcontractors, and other sub trades


Qualifications


Education:


  • 3-5 years’ project coordination experience
  • 5+ years’ related hands-on field or trade experience in a leadership role
  • Engineering degree or diploma (CET, EIT, P.Eng) is preferred ; or
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Civil Engineering: or


Experience And Skill Set


  • Good project coordination experience
  • Ability to effectively present information in writing, and respond to questions from a group of managers, clients, customers and various stakeholders
  • Strong communication and great organization skills
  • Ability to work long hours including evenings and weekends
  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing priorities
  • High capacity of working under pressure and stress
  • Experience managing complicated and tight timelines and keeping teams on track
  • Good knowledge of construction practices and construction industry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Comfortable publicly addressing large groups
  • Computer proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, drafting, and scheduling applications
  • Great problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
