Job Description
Position Overview
Information Technologies invites applications for a IT Construction Coordinator. This Full-time Limited Term (Project) position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to the Service Lead - Enterprise Communications and Data Centre.
Position Description
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
  • Lead in the creation and assembly of all documentation which complies with current IT service offering standards
  • Coordinate the delivery of all system designs in a timely manner and ensure that they are aligned with the IT architectural standards and roadmaps
  • Interface and communicate with the Facilities Project Management Office Project Managers as well as IT Technical Services in relation to Facilities driven projects
  • Oversee the schematic and detailed designs, and ensure that all construction related specifications are in line with IT standards and specifications
  • Oversee on site installation work, and ensure that all internal/external resources follow with University of Calgary standards, as it relates to both the technical and safety guidelines
  • Ensure the effective planning, preparation, execution and monitoring of IT schedules and costs to align with construction schedules and budgets within established parameters
  • Responsible for ensuring that all technical design and contracts with 3rd parties are documented and submitted for review with various parties
  • Coordinate the delivery of IT deliverables in accordance with project schedules
  • Ensure all team members have appropriate escalation paths in place and provide additional escalation support where required.
  • Provide timely status updates, and relay any risks to the Project Manager
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Coordination of individuals
  • An Undergraduate Degree or a combination of relevant project management/coordination certifications and work experience
  • Interface and communicate with the Facilities Project Management Office as well as IT Technical Services in relation to Facilities driven projects
  • High energy, confident individual that communicates with passion and authority
  • Direct the creation and assembly of all documentation which complies with current IT service offering standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, in both oral and written form
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff is essential
  • It is imperative that the incumbent for this role has a strong sense of ownership, is a strong team player, and can balance technical capabilities with business needs
  • Assist Project Managers and stakeholders with identifying project technology decisions and recommendations
  • Understanding of Service functions inside of Project Management
  • Ensure the effective planning, preparation, execution and monitoring of IT schedules to align with construction schedules and budgets within established parameters
  • Experience of working on concurrent projects and effectively managing conflicting priorities
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in successfully delivering IT Projects
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading/coordinating IT teams
