About The Position

The School of Spatial Design Technologies at Lethbridge College is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to provide instructional support for day-to-day operations of the program and courses in the Interior Design Technology diploma. The successful candidate will mainly provide one-on-one instructional assistance and consultation to students for projects and assignments using industry standard software, tools, and equipment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, innovative, and supportive participant within the School of Spatial Design Technologies and within the Centre for Technology, Environment & Design.

Position Details

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the successful candidate will oversee classroom tutorials, assist the instructor during lab time, manage hybrid classroom learning environments and discussion groups, assist in recruiting activities and year-end shows, maintain lab software and material libraries, and collaborate with faculty and industry. The successful candidate will also provide support in the classroom and to the various program instructors.

• Conducts virtual tutorials, training sessions, and demonstrations to educate students on design, modelling, or production techniques applicable to their projects.
• Guides and mentors students in their individual project work, providing feedback, troubleshooting assistance and best practices.
• Knowledge of classroom management and the ability to connect with students and peers.
• Cross-collaboration in the School of Spatial Design Technologies.
• Engages as a member of a larger faculty team in the development and implementation of course-related or curricular initiatives
• Maintains a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering collaboration, creativity, and exploration among students.
• Self-motivated and able to work positively in a team environment is a must.
• Motivation to recruit, integrating industry and embracing research initiatives.

Please note: Upon hire, the successful candidate will be required to participate in and successfully complete the Lethbridge College, New Instructor Orientation Program, beginning August 8-18. The official start date for the academic year will be August 28.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum diploma in Interior Design Technology, Architectural Animation Technology, or a related field (Engineering and Drafting, Decorating or Architecture with a strong skillset in 3D modelling and Architectural Animation.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for design, architectural and immersive technologies, and their potential applications in various industries.
• Experience using AutoCad, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, PowerPoint, 2020, Lumion, Twin Motion, Unreal Engine.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students of varying skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications

Salary AUPE Class Level 7 Step 1 $23.68/hr
