About The Position

The School of Spatial Design Technologies at Lethbridge College is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to provide instructional support for day-to-day operations of the program and courses in the Virtual and Augmented Reality ( VXR ) certificate program and Architectural Animation ( AAT ) diploma program.

The successful candidate will mainly provide one-on-one instructional assistance and consultation to students for projects and assignments using industry standard software, tools, and equipment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, innovative, and supportive participant within the School of Spatial Design Technologies and within the Centre for Technology, Environment & Design.

Position Details

The Successful Candidate Will

Reporting to the Associate Dean, the successful candidate will oversee classroom tutorials, assist the instructor during lab time, manage hybrid classroom learning environments and discussion groups, assist in recruiting activities and year-end shows, maintain lab software and material libraries, and collaborate with faculty and industry.

• Cross-collaborate in the School of Spatial Design Technologies
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering collaboration, creativity, and exploration among students
• Engage as a member of a larger faculty team in the development and implementation of course-related or curricular initiatives
• Conduct virtual tutorials, training sessions, and demonstrations to educate students on Design, modelling, or production techniques applicable to their projects
• Have knowledge of classroom management and the ability to connect with students and peers
• Be self-motivated and able to work positively in a team environment is a must
• Be motivated to recruit, integrate with industry and embrace research initiatives
• Guide and mentor students in their individual project work, providing feedback, troubleshooting assistance and best practices

Note: Upon hire, the successful candidate will be required to participate in and successfully complete the Lethbridge College, New Instructor Orientation Program, beginning August 8-18. The official start date for the academic year will be August 28.

Required Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Minimum diploma in Architectural Animation Technology, or a related field; minimum certificate in Virtual Augmented Reality. Please note that technical skill-sets crossover in these fields.
• Strong instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students of varying skill levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for design, architectural and immersive technologies, and their potential applications in various industries.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

As there is crossover of courses taken in VXR and in AAT , please see the required following technical skills, below. Familiarity with the software and platforms, will also be considered.

Vxr

• Experience in virtual and augmented reality development and design, including proficiency in popular VR/AR platforms, tools, and programming languages (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, C#, C++, etc.).
• Familiarity with 3D modeling, animation, or game development concepts would be a plus.

Aat

• Experience using AutoCad, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, PowerPoint, 2020, Lumion, Twin Motion, Unreal Engine.

Preferred Qualifications

Salary AUPE Class Level 7 Step 1 $23.68/hr
