Design Strategist - Architectural Controls

Arcadis IB Group is searching for an individual to join our Edmonton architectural design controls team. The position of Design Strategist – Architectural Controls is involved in working on design approvals for a broad range of projects and administering them on our www.archcontrol.com web platform as well as other platforms such as LotWorks. You will have the opportunity to help develop architectural guidelines for new residential communities and get involved throughout the various stages of the home build from the initial design stage to the final completion. Our team handles the approval process to ensure all homes have a unique character while following the common theme of a development.

NOTE: This position is structured as a permanent full-time or part-time role with a minimum of 24 hours per week and has the flexibility of working on-site at our downtown Edmonton office, work from home or a hybrid work environment - your choice!

Most of the things you’ll work on:

• Manage and maintain project files
• Work with home builders and some homeowners to ensure home plans are in compliance with architectural guidelines
• Review house applications in relation to the guidelines and standards of the development within a web-based platform
• Prepare inspection reports.
• Ensure close client relationship is maintained with clients and their staff through regular meetings; stay informed of changing business needs and directions
• Create Design Guidelines including maps, and house style graphics and coordinate exterior colours and building materials
• Make enhancements to the exterior elevations of homes to meet the requirements of the architectural guidelines
• Conduct physical site inspections on the exterior of homes (homes and landscapes)
• Work with Land Developer clients to establish architectural guidelines for multiple communities within Edmonton and surrounding areas

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

• Good design sense with creative problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail
• Strong computer skills in MS office, Adobe, etc. and web-based applications – proficiency in CAD is an asset (AutoCAD or Revit)
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal and interpersonal skills and interest in dealing with a diverse range of clients, including homebuilders and homeowners
• Diploma in Architectural Technology or Landscape Architectural Technology or a related discipline – related industry experience would be considered
• Strong interest in house design and land development; experience with house exterior design would be an asset
• Experience working in an engineering consultant or related environment would be beneficial
