Design Engineer Ii/Design Technologist Ii

Primary Role Focus

Conceptualize, design, analyze, verify, validate (test), and accurately document the development of completion tools that provide solutions to complex downhole applications. Provide support in the Engineering related maintenance of Packers Plus’ products. This rolereports to the Engineering Manager.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

• Revise and maintain drawings and models as necessary to ensure they continue to meet Packers Plus standards
• Review technical documents for accuracy and completeness
• Provide recommendations on design and processes, based on sound engineering principles, to continually improve efficiencies in new product design
• Research industry advances in technology, materials, and standards to ensure innovation in new product design
• Compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program
• Compliance to API-Q1 and ISO standards.
• Complete all tasks (models, drawings, calculations, testing, technical documentation) required to drive projects from concept to production
• Review and approve all design acceptance activities, including the design approval check list.
• Support other Designers as required to aid in product development
• Complete design projects with a minimal support and supervision
• Provide engineering guidance and recommendations to various departments on manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operational standards of new and existing tool designs

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

• Knowledge of Packers Plus technologies and procedures an asset
• Solid understanding of design process as well as knowledge of tool assembly and functions
• Technical expertise in Engineering, Design, Manufacturing and Mathematical principles
• Excellent technical communication skills
• Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
• Experience with Project Management an asset
• Advanced proficiency in the use of SolidWorks
• 4-8 years’ experience with downhole tools, design and applications
• Experience in Research& Development (R&D) processes an asset

Education and Training

• Minimum 2-year Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related field) or equivalent experience
• APEGA/ASET membershipis an asset
• Knowledge of ISO/API Q1 standards

Physical and Safety Requirements

• Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug& alcohol testing
• Extended periods of sitting at a desk using computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse
• May require lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs.
• Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment drug& alcohol test
