Design Technologist Jobs

Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, electrical design software, and experience with AutoCAD/Revit is considered an asset

(5-to-10+ years) of construction building design experience in CANADA, in Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Recreational, and Industrial.

Experience in Fire Alarm systems, Communication and Visual systems, Door hardware, Security and Intercom, and Panic/Duress Systems.

LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are considered assets

Design Experience (1-5+ years) in consulting electrical design engineering for buildings is an asset.

Strong understanding of Emergency Generators, power, and Life/Safety devices.

Collect field data, compile field notes and photographs, file and manage project related data;

Document project activities and complete data entry;

Education: College graduate of an accredited Civil Engineering Technology program;

0 – 10 years experience, with experience with any of the above listed tasks considered an asset;

Knowledge of construction practices and methodology;

Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills;

Experience in customer service and great interpersonal skills are essential.

Public Sector work environment experience an asset.

Professional Engineer or Sr. Design Technologist with 7+ years of demonstrated experience in the area of transportation engineering;

Experience with rural & urban roadway design and inter-disciplinary coordination related to roadway and highway projects;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with excellent teamwork skills;

Good understanding of QA / QC as well as OH&S practices / requirements;

Good working knowledge of TAC and BC Supplement to TAC design standards;

Alternative Delivery (DB, P3, etc.) projects experience is an asset; and

4-8 years’ experience with downhole tools, design and applications

Solid understanding of design process as well as knowledge of tool assembly and functions

Experience in Research& Development (R&D) processes an asset

Knowledge of Packers Plus technologies and procedures an asset

Minimum 2-year Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related field) or equivalent experience

Diploma in Civil Technology, Engineering Design or Construction Management related field

Establish/confirm quantities for progress claims, advise Area Manager of status

Must be proficient using Civil 3D with good experience using MS Excel and Word are required

Superior interpersonal skills in dealing with team collaboration and stakeholder communication

Excellent organizational skills and ability to write effectively

Support site, as built and topographic surveys

Experience and education with software and equipment related to interior design practices

Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor of Interior Design (or related) degree or NCIDQ certification

Minimum 2 years’ recent and relevant experience

Professional industry experience in commercial and residential design

Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code is required

Some building/construction/fabrication experience in a workshop or business environment

Minimum post-secondary educational requirement - completion of a post-secondary Technology Diploma in an appropriate discipline.

Defining customer requirements and project scope, creating and maintaining customer data,

Ensuring all service product requirements are collected,

Explaining FortisBC processes, procedures and requirements to customers,

Conveying related permit requirements to customers,

Drafting written work procedures (per company standard OHS 03-14) for manager’s review and approval,

3 years’ experience in lot grading, roadways, sewers and water design in Land Development and Municipal projects

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office and other general applications), with working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D

Prepare detailed design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D for a variety of assigned Municipal and land development engineering projects

Prepare conceptual, preliminary plans and report figures

Develop preliminary designs with the project management and design team

Facilitate release of fabrication drawings to project management and shop operations

Minimum 5 years of industry experience

Must have experience with 3D CAD software – Solidworks preferred

Knowledge of steel fabrication, machine shop processes and mechanical system expertise (conveyors, processing equipment, etc.).
