Electrical Design Engineer Jobs

Supported by a network of independent sales agents across North America, SSM operates two production facilities within the Calgary area.To support its growth and expansion, SSM is looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to the team.

Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this position is responsible for the electrical design of HVAC air handlers.

Responsibilities Include:

• Researching codes and standards.
• Creating detailed wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings for air handlers in AutoCAD.
• Providing technical assistance in the application and design of mechanical equipment for specific projects.
• Liaising with the mechanical designers to ensure design conformance.
• Selecting components which may include the use of selection software or consultation with vendors to ensure proper component selection for performance and price, and/or working with the Supply Chain group to find alternative components.
• Updating and maintaining drawings and internal documentation.

Job Requirements:

• Proficiency in problem solving and critical decision making.
• Strong proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
• Bachelors or diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Keen attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities.
• Knowledge of PLC programming (Carel, Distech and/or Allen-Bradley) and eligibility or membership in APEGA or ASET will be considered an asset.
