Summary:

The Project Development Engineer supports the engineering and development activities for the company and is primarily focused on providing technical and commercial support to the Business Development/Sales and Operations teams. This role will be involved in the planning and executing of CNG – Compressed Natural Gas, RNG – Renewable Natural Gas, and H2 – Hydrogen project objectives from our customers are met.

Schedule:

• This position follows normal business hours with frequent travel to field locations in Canada and the USA required.
• Based primarily in our Calgary corporate office, we support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with authorities on permitting and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and/or complete detailed designs of major customer projects after project award.
• Act as internal leader on industry trends and emerging technologies
• Research regulatory requirements and execute changes to achieve compliance.
• Safety Champion
• Coordinate and manage construction of required onsite infrastructure.
• Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and construction partners for both the development of new proposals as well as to expand Certarus’s supply chain options.
• Build tools and processes to standardize or simplify day-to-day work and improve consistency.
• Applications Support
• Provide technical expertise during customer office and/or field site visits.
• Support ongoing development and execution of the Certarus Training Program.
• Support the BD/Sales team in accurately defining project scope and costs through detailed estimates and preliminary designs (electrical, mechanical and civil).
• Provide technical assistance to the field and visit customer sites as needed, either remote or in person.

• Act as technical liaison to vendors, suppliers, and construction partners.
• Provide technical expertise to the BD/Sales team for projects that require engineering support to be successful.

Requirements:

• 5 years in a hands-on engineering role within an industrial business, oil field experience is an asset.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• A self-starter with relentless habits in line with Certarus core values.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven experience working in both office and remote settings with little to no oversight or supervision.
• A willingness to be a pioneer and help move the business into new market segments with significant growth potential.
• Experience with all phases of project execution from front-end sales activities through to commissioning and hand-over.
• Ability to travel with a valid passport.
• Experience with controls, piping systems, and compressed gases strongly preferred.
