Key Responsibilities:
Research & Development 100%
- Strong ability to gather information about the issue on hand; then review, analyze, and interpret that information to generate a solution. This includes researching multidisciplinary suppliers, products, and materials to utilize within your designs and processes, or within production itself.
- Support product and/or process development projects as part of the R&D team.
- Interface with factory personnel to obtain submittal and design data for manufactured equipment.
- Work with integration, program leads, and key functional partners to ensure the successful qualification of new materials and products.
- Correspond with field installation personnel to continually improve design concepts.
- Track all costs related to the creation of new products or setups and decide what ideas are worth pursuing.
- Design new fenestration systems such as windows, doors, and patio systems and complete a project from design, to testing, to implementation, to closing a project.
- Run experiments, prepare test samples, physical property testing, operate various pieces of pilot production & test equipment, record data, and report outcomes.
- Design new experimental rigs/setups according to the existing standards, such as ASTM, CSA, and others.
- Systematically save sketches and drawings on our server; keep the server organized; update project folders and files as jobs progress and revisions are made.
- Research and integrate materials/supplier technology using materials/supplier development methodology, problem-solving, and processes.

Professional Experience Requirements:
- Experience working with diverse cultures and a varied workforce.
- In-depth knowledge of specialized software, such as SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS Simulation, AutoCAD, and 3D Printing (Revit would be an asset).
- Experience building testing setups/rigs.
- Knowledge of the design and fabrication process.
- 3-5 years experience in design, manufacturing, or another relevant Engineer role (experience in an industry this is similar or the same as this organization would be considered an asset for the candidate).
- Knowledge of the National Building Code is an asset.
- Knowledge of data acquisition and data collection systems/software – Lab Windows CVI, LabVIEW.
Educational Qualification & Certifications Requirements:
- Must-Have a Mechanical Engineering Degree in a related field from a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Must be certified EIT (registered with APEGA).

- Clear criminal background check.
Working Conditions
- Requires a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Working in an office environment with possible local travel requirements.
- Needs to be comfortable working on a manufacturing production floor at times.
- Operate primarily in an office environment.
- Use standard office equipment such as laptop computers, 3D printers, and smartphones.
- Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 10 - 75 lbs.
- Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
