In this role, you will lead front-end development activities for a vast array of projects associated with the modification, expansion, operability, reliability, and integrity of Enbridge assets, with focus on gas transmission. Core projects include: geohazards, pipeline repairs and replacements, horizontal directional drills, hydrotests, facility modifications, make-piggables, electrical, instrumentation and controls, abandonments, valve installations, etc. throughout Canada and the US.

What Will You Do

• Develop and submit project charters from Unclassified to Class 3, delineating project scope, cost estimate, schedule, business drivers, non-technical risk requirements, and opportunities to meet the needs of sponsors and to de-risk projects prior to execution.
• Support asset management team with cost and schedule input into long-range plans.
• Accountable to lead all aspects of technical activities such as preliminary engineering activities, scope development, cost estimation, schedule development, risk assessment, project execution strategies, and economic analysis.
• Provide innovative, fit-for-purpose, development of projects in support of business drivers that protect and/or enhance pipeline integrity, throughput, and revenue, often analyzing options that permit customer flexibility and choice.
• Foster positive relationships with key partners, including operations, integrity, construction, engineering, project management, non-technical risk groups, asset management, etc. and use their critical recommendations to generate robust charters.
• After project approval, lead an effective transition from the development phase to the execution phase. Ensure that the knowledge of decisions, assumptions and execution plans made during the development phase are accurately understood and applied in the execution phase.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university or college.
• Experience in design, project development, project execution, or operations of pipeline systems. Excellent project management, conflict resolution, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Registration or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada if you are located in Canada. Not required for US roles.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• 4 or more years of related experience.

Physical Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
