Project Engineer / Project Coordinator

At Hifi Engineering Inc. we build world-class fibre optic sensing and monitoring technology for wellbores, pipelines, and critical infrastructure. We are seeking a Junior Project Engineer / Project Coordinator to join our Engineering team in Calgary, AB. The candidate will be under the direction and guidance of the senior deployment team members, providing technical, management and field support as well as assisting all deployment team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

• Organize project close-out including creating turnover documents and assisting in demobilizing the site and archiving documentation.
• Follow up internally and with contractors to facilitate the review and distribution of drawings and work packages.
• Demonstrate Leadership and progress quickly to be a crew lead when in the in and out of the office.
• Installation, trouble shooting, and commissioning of Hifi fiber optic cabling and equipment.
• Work with Project Engineers to facilitate tracking of projects including milestones and deadlines.
• Maintain a very high standard of quality.
• Perform general administrative and recordkeeping functions.
• Recognize and identify potential problems while offering viable solutions.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate a professional attitude and ability to work in a team environment with fellow employees, contractors and customers/clients.
• Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, both legislatively mandated, and as outlined in the company policy.
• Planning, coordinating, and preparing equipment and materials for deployment to work sites.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work in all weather conditions, and working alone
• Strong technical skills including experience with MS Word, Excel, and scheduling software
• Up to 2 years related work experience is an asset (co-op/internships will be considered)
• Ability to workdays, weekends and longer days when required
• Able to read and understand construction documentation
• Strong written and communication skills
• Minimum 5 years with valid Canadian driver's license
• Post-secondary education.
• Knowledge of office processes: project set up, subcontract management, change orders, RFIs (request for information), and closeout
• Must be organized, self-motivated and have effective communication skills

Assets:

• Oilfield and/ or Pipeline experience
• Fiber Optic experience such as prepping / splicing fiber using fusion splicer equipment and testing with OTDR.
• General Fiberoptic or Electrical Knowledge
• Certified Fiber Optic Technician
