Project Engineer - Compression

Summary:

The Project Engineer – Compression will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to engineer, design, and build the compression equipment platforms supporting our customers and operations.

Reporting the Engineering Manager – Equipment, this position is part of the Engineering team and will provide technical, operational and product guidance on mechanical, instrumentation and automation aspects of gas compression equipment. With responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, safe operations and best practices of the CNG equipment, the Project Engineer – Compression will play a key role in the development future compression equipment designs, and optimization of existing equipment.

This position is based in our Calgary corporate office with travel to shop and field locations as required.

Schedule:

• We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration.
• This position holds normal business hours.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead miscellaneous initiatives optimizing equipment reliability and uptime in the field.
• Safety Champion:
• Visit facilities and/or customer sites as required.
• Equipment Design and Support:
• Train new and veteran field staff on the existing and revised procedures as we mature processes within the company.
• Contribute to new product development, and optimization of existing equipment.
• Support efforts to maintain production schedules.
• Develop, update, and maintain project drawings and documents for fabrication.
• Operational Support:
• Help promote a proactive and positive safety culture within Certarus.
• Product Support and Development:
• Support commissioning of new equipment to verify quality control and that each unit meets all functional requirements.
• Development of Safe Working Procedures, equipment manuals, training materials, or other documentation relevant to mitigating safety risks or improving Certarus’ operations.
• Specify and procure critical parts and manage key supply chain efforts.
• Provide technical expertise to resolve field-level issues within the CNG delivery platform.
• Support Operations in identifying and procurement of critical spares as needed.
• Work with the team and/ or equipment supplier to improve reliability.
• Identify key equipment failure trends and develop corrective actions.
• Visit domestic suppliers for expediting, inspections, quality audits, or any other business needs.

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience in natural gas compression (CNG), process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation design and engineering of equipment.
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Ability to work in a team, fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Aptitude and desire for hands-on work combined with strong analytical skills.
• Experience with compressor package design, piping, electrical and control systems is an asset.
