Project Engineer

This position reports to the Engineering Superintendent and will be involved in the planning and execution of capital projects.


Key Responsibilities Include


  • Acting as mill representative with design engineering firms and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with project construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Provide input into the design and optimization of equipment to maximize reliability and performance
  • Develop a detailed scope of work, budgets, and schedule
  • Operational support and maintenance planning for existing mill equipment
  • Project management of capital projects, including construction management and contractor coordination
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient installation of equipment
  • Handle a wide range of verbal, written, and presentation communications including progress report writing, presentations on project status to peers, managers, and mill employees
  • Provide auxiliary support to facilities for shutdowns, safety projects, and other duties as assigned


Qualifications


  • The desire to learn and succeed
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Power BI are required
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Pulp mill or heavy industry experience is an asset
  • Excellent skills in all forms of communication
  • Proven interpersonal and leadership/supervisory skills including planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring of work activities to achieve project objectives
  • The ability to read Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Drawings is required
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering and eligibility for registration with APEGA as a EIT or PEng
  • Preference is given to applicants with 5 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
