We are currently looking for a Parts Inventory Accountant at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON
This position is for an accountant with proven experience in financial accounting, looking to progress their career in the automotive industry. The individual must understand importance of preparing timely, accurate and relevant financial information for diverse stakeholders and being a trusted accounting partner to controlling and other business units. This role will also ensure the financial integrity of the Parts balance sheet, profit and loss statement and underlying general ledger accounts, utilizing best practices around account reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting to deliver accurate financial results.
**This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days in the Ajax office**
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible to support with audit inquiries from all external auditors
- Capable to effectively present process walkthroughs to external auditors
- Support and leads ad-hoc projects and preparation of financial presentations
- Co-ordinate monthly closing activities for Parts accounting ensuring adherence with established timetables
- Review system reports for accuracy and completeness, process corrections and contact other departments concerning any issues
- Reconcile sales and cost of sales units in general ledger and correct all discrepancies prior to the final general ledger closing for the month
- Support system testing and maintenance activities for SAP FI/CO and SAP ET2000
- Maintains and proposes performance metrics and KPIs to drive informed decisions regarding resources and areas of focus
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement account fluctuation analysis for Parts accounting in support of monthly financial review meetings
- Review parts sales, cost of sales, margins, inventory and other related accounts ensuring proper accounting activity and adherence to IFRS accounting standards
- Fulfill ad-hoc reporting requests to aid business decisions, and support Tax and other groups
- Prepare account reconciliations for all Parts related balance sheet accounts, including provision accounts
- Responsible for accounting functions related to the parts accounting system and ensuring such activity is properly reflected in general ledger
- Responsible for documenting, implementing and monitoring new, existing and proposed processes as well as preparing detailed desk procedures for all role related tasks
Qualifications - External
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Progressive accounting experience, including financial analysis, financial reporting, project representation, financial statement preparation and account reconciliation. Experience and exposure to IFRS guidelines.
- 5 + years or more of related accounting experience. Previous Parts accounting and/or automotive experience an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and motivation to improve processes
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide positive and constructive feedback
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and act with a strong sense of urgency
- CPA Accounting Designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Strong self-initiative to operate independently
- Strong computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office and advanced level Excel skill (pivots, v-lookups, and advanced formulas)
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles, practices and their application.
- Must be a team player and willing to help out colleagues to achieve overall team goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or Business
- Analytical skills – Ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes and identify risks and process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills – Written, oral and presentation to document, articulate and convey functions and processes.
- Working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset
