Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, Manchester Marketing is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. Founded by John Seibert in 1976, the company began as a one-man business specializing in the gas station and vehicle repair industry. Over the years, the venture grew to become one of the largest towing companies in metropolitan Richmond, later adding a monthly vehicle auction, commercial vehicle repairs and a dumpster business. Manchester Marketing, Inc. is dedicated to forming and maintaining long-lasting relationships with companies and individuals and is aggressively pursuing future growth and expansion. They continue to be most well-known for their expertise in servicing the towing needs for the city of Richmond, which includes managing a 19-acre tow facility to support that operation.
Role Overview: The Staff Accountant will be an integral leader of the accounting team and will work closely with senior leadership to strengthen the company's accounting and operational functions. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, month and year-end, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. The Staff Accountant will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during month, quarter and year close. We are looking for an entrepreneurial team player, with the ability and willingness to roll up their sleeves as needed. A successful candidate will need to be a self-starter who will take the initiative to proactively identify and resolve challenges.
Responsibilities

• Partner with external CPA firm regarding tax return preparation and financial reporting.
• Monitor company retirement accounts.
• Direct supervision of accounting department, as needed.
• Work with senior management and external vendors to lead and facilitate the company through continued development and use of software and technology.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
• Monthly and annual reconciliations of various general ledger accounts including cash, receivables, fixed assets, intercompany, payables etc.
• Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to General Ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and tax.
• Execute the routine and month-end close processes; prepares monthly financial statements.
• Prepare and record various journal entries and accruals through the general ledger.
• Develops and expands on financial statement reporting/dashboards.
• Maintain and develop accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of efficiency while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.

Desired Requirements/Qualifications

• Strong business acumen with the ability to think outside the box, take direction and feedback from senior management, learn new skills, and challenge oneself.
• Must be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
• Experience with Great Plains and QuickBooks preferred.
• Maintain an unrelenting commitment to quality and customer service.
• Experience in a small or privately-owned business is preferred.
• Five years of experience in a traditional (GL, balance sheet, journal entries, account reconciliations, taxes, and monthly reporting) accounting role.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to multitask, manage priorities and workflows in fast-paced environment.

Competitive Salary & Benefits Package including health, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life, AD&D, PTO, and 401(k). Salary $55K to $70K depending upon related credentials and work experience.
