Job Description

The Role 

Working with the Timberlands Finance team, the Accountant is responsible for a range of financial tasks, including cost and project accounting, data management and financial modelling, journal entries, month-end tasks, and preparation of month-end reconciliations.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and analyzing transactions at month end for reporting and preparing management reports for discussion; and
  • Supporting the Commercial Finance group by providing financial analysis and reporting on business results;
  • Developing consistent tracking of information to support business decisions and project reporting;
  • Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial records, data, and modelling related to Commercial and Timberlands Finance;
  • Preparing and reviewing reconciliations.

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Strong understanding of general cost accounting concepts;
  • Post Secondary Education in a related field;
  • Strong ability to thrive in a team-based, highly diverse, equitable, and inclusive collaborative environment;
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in operations systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, 3Log LIMS and PowerBI is preferred but not required; and
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills;
  • Forestry accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
  • High level of professionalism;
