Supporting the PAL Group of Companies, we are looking for an IT Operations Manager to join our team in St. John's, NL.

Responsibilities

• Audit service desk policies and procedures
• Preserve assets, information security and control structures
• Evaluate and assess service delivery performance metrics
• Review all client complaints, rectify issues and liaise with appropriate departments to handle complex issues in a bid to improve service delivery
• All other duties as assigned.
• Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
• Ownership of information technology security, cybersecurity awareness and company training
• Observe service desk operation techniques to determine how effective they are and implement new techniques when old ones are ineffective
• Monitoring daily performance of IT systems, including computers, programs, and networks
• Establish relationships with corporate vendors
• Assist with annual budget preparation and tracking to ensure cost effectiveness
• Delegate specific service desk responsibilities to team members to create specialization and increase service delivery performance
• Developing and implementing IT policy and best practice guides for the organization
• Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
• Coordinate service desk team members daily activities
• Audit systems and assess their outcomes
• Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions
• Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure end-users equipment, servers, and networked equipment are in working order

Qualifications

• Good presentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel
• 5+ years of IT operations management
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
• Experience with traditional IT support tools and systems like; SolarWinds, remote desktop, ticketing systems and monitoring and logging tools
• Must have good familiarity with IT infrastructure technologies such as large-scale high-performance storage systems, databases, telephony & cloud computing
• Must have good leadership skills
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or related field
• Expertise in data centre management and data governance
• Must be knowledgeable about service desk operations
