Director Of It Infrastructure & Operations

The Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations is a key member of the IT Leadership team. You will lead the strategic vision, analysis, design, and execution of emerging infrastructure functions, including cloud, virtualization, storage, and networks.

Reporting to the CTO, they oversee IT operations, disaster recovery, and technology solutions alignment with business needs. You will collaborate with other departments, implement best IT practices, and optimize service management. The Director drives innovation, fosters a culture of improvement, and optimizes processes.

Annual salary: $150,000 -160,000 + bonus and benefits

Office Location: Markham, ON (must be able to work on-site 2 days a week)

Responsibilities:

• Lead new system architecture design and implementation based on IT needs.
• Manage vendor relationships, performance metrics, and agreements.
• Execute cost-effective, long-term technology plans and align budgets with goals.
• Justify IT spending through business case analysis.
• Lead and build a team of skilled Infrastructure professionals.
• Provide senior-level technical leadership in IT architecture, design, support, and service delivery.
• Enhance IT infrastructure through benchmarking, analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and enforce IT policies for architecture, security, and disaster recovery.
• Oversee infrastructure design, delivery, operations, and support, including Cloud, Network, Storage, Database, and Virtualization.
• Manage Infrastructure Operations, Network Security staff, and streamline processes.
• Maintain Disaster Recovery Plans for critical systems and ensure documentation.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills as evidenced by prior management of a team for at least 3-5 years
• Proven experience in best practices for cloud architecture and security.
• Knowledge of NetApp (Storage) and VMware (virtualized servers) is preferred
• Progressive hands-on technical experience in IT infrastructure – architecture, systems administration, routing/switching, network design, database systems, virtualization, storage area networks, etc.
• Knowledge of Cloud operations and/or managing Cloud managed services provider is required (AWS, Azure)
• Knowledge of a modern tech stack of cloud applications
• Certification in Information Security or related discipline is preferred
• Knowledgeable in compliance and information security
• Demonstrated ability to design and direct support and infrastructure projects with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement
• Background and understanding of ITIL Service management
• Experience in supporting enterprise applications in a high-availability environment
• 10+ years of total IT experience, 10+ years of Infrastructure and Security experience, 3-5 at a senior level
