We are looking to hire a driven Director of Operations for a fast growing client in the distribution/retail industry.
The Director of Operations plays a crucial role in managing and continuously improving the organizational, procedural, and technical elements of our client’s distribution center(s). With a focus on delivering strong and sustainable economic performance in Cost/Unit, this role ensures the seamless flow of all products from receiving to replenishment of their stores, as well as meeting the needs of ordering through various channels.
The Director of Operations is responsible for achieving these objectives while upholding our client’s rigorous safety and quality standards and cultivating the next generation of leaders across their Distribution Center Network. As the leader of the supply chain strategy for the division in the country/hub, the Director of Operations drives its successful execution, positioning our client’s organization for continued growth and success. This role will report into the General Manager.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and execute the vision and strategic planning for all supply chain teams.
- Ensure high-quality supply chain service with a customer-focused approach, optimizing costs and stocks according to market demands.
- Manage strategic relations with stakeholders to optimize the supply chain and achieve expected performance.
- Implement systems and processes that drive growth and optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Oversee and manage supply chain functions, including credit management, customer care, procurement, and demand planning.
- Identify and act on continuous improvement opportunities, including organizational changes.
- Build and pilot annual budgets for the supply chain division.
- Drive daily performance of their Distribution Center(s), emphasizing safety, quality, security, and adherence to internal control norms.
- Evaluate and manage the economic performance of the distribution center network, including costs, labor planning, maintenance, and inventory control.
- Implement systematic continuous improvement and lean principles.
- Ensure the implementation of process infrastructure, financial plans, and resource plans.
- Lead the development of action plans, monitor compliance, identify gaps, and establish resolution
plans.
- Drive change management initiatives, optimizing layout and slotting strategy, integrating planning
processes, and anticipating future business and technical requirements.
- Anticipate future technical requirements and identify solutions for interfaces to ensure an efficient
supply chain ecosystem.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Retail Distribution Center Operational Management (80+ employees) with previous experience in onboarding and 3PL management.
- Ability to integrate external regulations and proactive anticipation of business activity.
- LEAN Management and 6 Sigma Certification (Black Belt preferred) with demonstrated leadership in delivering successful business process and system solutions.
- Project management abilities including WMS implementation experience and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex challenges
- Excellent communication skills, able to present solutions to technical and non-technical staff across diverse cultures/geographies.
- Highly organized, consumer-oriented, and mastery of Quality, EHS, Finance & Supply Chain standards.
- Ability to optimize information, physical, and financial flows in the Supply Chain and utilizes business data for continuous improvement.
- Experience with improving flexibility, reactivity, and reliability while effectively managing costs along the Supply Chain.
- Proficient in mentoring individuals and ensuring timely project completion.
- Demonstrated experience in proactively strengthening the position of the Supply Chain within an organization.
role requires travelling – Canada and US up to 30%
