Job Summary


Position Type: Full-time


Location: Hybrid (this role requires on-site support at our Guelph DC at least 2 times per week)


Reporting to: Interim HR Manager, People Operations


The HR Associate provides administrative support to the Human Resources team, primarily within People Operations. Areas of support include operations, employee relations, maintaining records, pre-recruitment, and general HR administration.


The successful incumbent thrives in a fast-paced, high volume environment. S/he/they must have strong administrative skills, a keen attention to detail, and proven track-record demonstrating initiative.


Core Job Responsibilities


  • Provide on-site administrative support for operations client group: compensation programs, contractor pool, stat holiday/overtime agreements, safety shoe reimbursements, work authorizations, posting communications, and monitoring suggestion boxes
  • Prepare and process employee letters and forms related to new hires, effecting employee changes (i.e. terminations, transfers, promotions, shifts changes, and salary adjustments), administrative support for leave management, employment verifications, and etc.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in researching information and updating Human Resources policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date employee records
  • Provide administrative support for recruitment processes – assist HRBPs in preparing internal job requisitions & postings for the talent acquisition team, circulating postings within distribution centers, vetting internal candidates, initiating background checks, drafting employment agreements as required
  • Monitor the HRCanada mailbox, respond to front-line requests, and triage to others as appropriate in a timely manner
  • Support various HR projects and coordinate related activities as required (i.e. annual merit process, Employee Appreciation Week, Health & Safety initiatives, policy updates, Succession Planning, department-specific T&D, etc).
  • Support the new employee onboarding process: coordinate new hire orientations (on-site & virtual) and act as link between HR & payroll for new hire paperwork


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated customer service experience; previous experience responding to HR related inquiries is considered an asset
  • Current knowledge of general Human Resources practices and relevant employment legislation
  • Experience with payroll/HRIS systems an asset (i.e. ADP Workforce Now)
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal, formal and informal)
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality and use good judgement
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and other Office applications
  • Well-developed organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing schedules and priorities
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, with Human Resources specialization, or Social Sciences and/ or HR diploma/certificate required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a diverse team environment
  • Previous experience within HR or an administrative support role a strong asset
