Join the team at Salsbury Community Society (SCS) and help us create spaces of belonging for people from all walks of life. We are seeking an Executive Director (ED) with experience in the non-profit and/or housing sector to lead our organization in achieving its mission and values. You will report to the Board of Directors and be responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing operations, and ensuring financial sustainability.
At SCS, we operate small scale and medium density housing that is grounded in relationships rather than social services. We care deeply about providing affordable housing, fostering a sense of belonging for people from diverse backgrounds, the sustainability of the buildings and operations, and the well-being of our staff. As the ED, you will have the opportunity to lead an organization that is committed to creating community that is inclusive and welcoming to all.

- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to the Salsbury Community Society staff and volunteers and build a strong organizational culture
- Oversee and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Salsbury Community Society, including property management, tenant relations, community programming, and human resources
- Develop and manage the Salsbury Community Society's annual budget and financial plans
- Develop action plans to implement the strategic plan, including acquiring a housing operations contract to manage a second building.

- Full time position with a salary, benefits and leave package competitive with other non-profit organizations of our size. Starting salary range is $70,000 - $85,000, with annual increases tied to cost of living and performance.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in non-profit housing, housing development or management, or a sector that provides social services (e.g., childcare, healthcare, community development)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with computers including applications like the Google Suite and Quickbooks
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in human resource management, including the ability to lead and motivate staff and volunteers
- Experience working with a Board of Directors
- Bachelor's degree in a field such as business administration, urban planning, policy, social work or other relevant field
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation applicable to a charitable organization of comparable size and complexity
- Proof of a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in financial management, and risk management
- Committed to creating inclusive communities, affordable housing, and social justice more generally
