Job Description

The Museum & Archives of Vernon (also known as Vernon Museum) has over 20,000 objects, from ball gowns to cannon balls! The Vernon Museum features exhibits, acquires and preserves archives, runs programs, and rents space to showcase the rich history and create an understanding of the North Okanagan.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for leading the Vernon Museum’s people and operations and driving its success.

The Executive Director is responsible for managing staff and volunteers, writing grants, spearheading fundraising efforts, managing financials, and developing strategic plans, budgets, policies and procedures. Additionally, this person is no stranger to leading, managing and motivating staff, and is passionate about ensuring a positive, thriving workplace culture.

Most importantly, the Executive Director must have a genuine interest in history, the community, and the work of the Museum.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time, salaried position working on-site in the heart of Vernon. Some evening and weekend work may be occasionally required.

The starting salary for this role is $55,000 (negotiable based on experience and skills). The successful individual will also receive extended health benefits.
