Job Description

Accounting & Payroll Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee AR collections and payment remittances.
  • Assist with full-cycle, multi-provincial, semi-monthly payroll for all hourly, salary employees and contingent workforce across Canada.
  • Updating any changes to contingent workforce information, processing terminations, and issuing records of employment and other employee-related documents.
  • Prepare various management reports and analysis.
  • Implement policies and drive process improvement with evolving requirements of the business
  • Ensuring sales tax is accuracy across different provinces
  • Review and post timesheets for contingent workforce.
  • AP EFT preparation for incorporated contractors.
  • Backup Finance Manager and execute other responsibilities, as required.
  • Prepare monthly commission reports for the sales and recruiting teams
  • Weekly invoice export and posting to ledger

What You'll Bring:

  • Excellent organizational and records management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • An analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity and professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Previous experience working in ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting with knowledge of how payroll functions
  • Aptitude to leverage technology to simplify internal processes, minimize manual work and limit delays in processing.
  • Strong customer service focus with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and partner with key stakeholders.
  • Accounts receivable collections and payment processing knowledge.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools with the ability to manipulate and calculate large data sets in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, functions/formulas.
  • Background in Accounting and/or Bookkeeping are assets with experience working with QuickBooks Online.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver results independently and while working with a team in a fast-paced environment.
