Job Description

Our client is looking for a strong payroll and accounting coordinator to join their team on a full time permanent basis! Our client who is an established organization in their field, offers a hybrid working model and free parking on site, all while joining a supportive and collaborative team.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold strict confidentiality by adhering to legal and ethical standards at all times.
  • Oversee payroll operations for two Canadian entities, ensuring the accurate processing of payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Respond promptly to payroll inquiries from internal customers.
  • Ensure adherence to governmental requirements and diligently report and remit payroll withholding tax and tax payments to appropriate provincial and federal agencies.
  • Manage the complete payroll cycle, including the bi-weekly processing of payroll for all employees, both hourly and salaried.
  • Accurately calculate vacation accrual amounts and maintain the payroll system's balance accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR department to ensure accurate benefits and payroll tax codes.
  • Prepare records of employment and handle termination payments as required.
  • Handle new hire set-ups, maintain employee data in the payroll system, and administer payroll processes for employee changes, such as vacation and sick time, RRSP contributions, and other relevant adjustments.
  • Process payroll for commissions, expense reimbursements, bonuses, gifts, and other related payments.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial payroll laws and regulations by accurately preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual government filings for HST, payroll, and EHT.
  • Maintain all payroll reports and backup documents in an organized manner.
  • Monitor, process, validate, and rectify digital and manual employee timesheets to ensure precise payroll calculations.
  • Generate payroll reports for month-end procedures and prepare payroll journal entries.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Relevant education in Finance, Accounting, Business Admin or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-3 years of full cycle payroll processing experience required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate level Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • PCP designation considered an asset
