Working as part of a small friendly team, this 2-year post provides a wide-ranging introduction to all aspects of information, knowledge and library services. It is ideal for someone wanting to undertake a self-funded distance learning MA in librarianship at the same time as they work, or provides the experience necessary to get onto the full-time Masters course.

The post is located at Torbay Hospital, in the beautiful county of Devon, with its plentiful supply of sandy beaches and stunning moorland.

The role of our service is to provide the knowledge base for NHS staff to make the best informed evidence-based decision regarding the care of their patients. Our Trust is in an exciting period of development, trying out new and improved models of care.

Under the knowledge management umbrella, the trainee would be involved in current awareness, research, website development, marketing and outreach services.

Additionally, the trainee would undertake library management functions such as enquiry desk work, circulation, inter-library loans, collection management and OpenAthens administration on behalf of the region.

The ideal candidate will have a degree, strong customer-services and interpersonal skills, good teamwork and communication skills. Some previous experience of information or library work would be an advantage but is not essential. Full training on the job will be provided.
