Senior Vice President, Government Services

As Senior Vice President, Government Services you will provide strategic leadership and direction to a group of Project Delivery teams responsible for the implementation of a portfolio of infrastructure projects assigned to Infrastructure Ontario

What You Will Do

• Oversee the delivery of portfolio of projects in accordance with the approved staging plan, within approved schedule, budget, and quality parameters
• Assist Project Delivery teams with issues management. Interface with and provide direction to project clients, advisors, and proponents to make sure that Infrastructure Ontario’s objectives are maintained
• Oversee all communications strategies and activities related to projects and keep the EVP, Divisional President, , CEO, Board, and senior ministry officials informed of issues or events that may concern them
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the portfolio of projects
• Ensure that projects are free from conflict of interest and in compliance with legislation, policies, and directives to guarantee the integrity of the partnership process
• Ensure that appropriate project management systems and financial management controls are in place and Projects Delivery group follows approved guidelines of the Program Management Department
• Ensure that the Project Governance documents are issued and, as applicable, executed for each project in the assigned portfolio
• Provide an oversight to Project Delivery teams in execution of the assigned portfolio
• Participate in or lead committee meetings on matters impacting the IO project delivery program
• Actively foster strong linkages with governments, stakeholders, and external partners to promote buy-in to projects and champion the adoption of best practices
• Ensure comprehensive project management oversight is maintained throughout the planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final completion phases of each project
• Manage internal and external resources to achieve or exceed objectives
• Ensure that the procurement of high-value external services and contractors are retained for projects in accordance with established policies and accountabilities
• Manage the expectations of clients, line ministries, and key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of assigned projects

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Outstanding team leadership skills to build, develop, and motivate a professional team capable of delivering high quality projects that add value for clients and stakeholders
• Exceptional communications skills to provide informed strategic advice and clear directions to internal and external parties with respect to projects
• Excellent knowledge of government priorities and approval processes; a clear understanding of the inter-relationships of the government’s mandate, priorities and deliverables, and awareness of potential public perception of Infrastructure Ontario’s activities
• Proven skills in actively fostering strong relationships and trust with governments, stakeholders, and external partners to promote buy-in to projects and champion the adoption of best practices
• Proven leadership skills as a member of the executive team and in creating, communicating, and implementing a vision for staff and other executives
• Strong negotiations skills with an ability to solve problems and find win-win solutions
• In-depth knowledge of the complexities of the implementation of large, complex infrastructure projects under a variety of contracting structures
• Senior management experience in managing large, complex infrastructure projects
• University degree in a relevant discipline or experience that would be considered equivalent
