Working within the overall framework of GS1 Canada’s strategic objectives, the Vice President, Industry Relations, Grocery works closely with the SVP, Industry Relations. This role is responsible for leading the development and execution of the Grocery sector strategy including the management of the Heat Map process and the execution of the 5-stage gate process for Board priorities, leveraging our Community Management role within industry, further enabling the growth of GS1 Canada. You will work cross-functionally and within the department, bringing a collaborative and efficient approach to ensure a strong go to market position, driving future-oriented value creation for industry, fortifying GS1 Canada’s trusted strategic partnership with stakeholders. You will have responsibility in delivering cost recovery through new initiatives and through protocol implementation with Grocery Board members.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop RACI and secures internal subject matter expertise and commitment to resources
- Collaborate cross-functionally and cross departmentally ensuring the Industry Relations team is seen as living the values of the organization
- Lead the Board Heat Map Process for Board member approval, leveraging the insights from the sector strategies
- Secure guest speakers and presenters that are relevant to items noted above and guides presentation development based on GS1 Canada’s ways of working
- As part of adoption and operationalization gates of the 5-stage gate process, develops go to market plan to be executed by all subscriber facing teams
- Lead development of all materials required to move the initiative through the stage gate process, including business case and funding model, protocol documents, and gain board approval
- Develop and track the Board Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Metrics
- Work with Business Intelligence team to track against success metrics
- Spearhead and iterate development of insights for action and formation of the grocery sector strategies to be shared with executive team for approval and then to the sector board for support and buy-in
- Develop and gain approval for meeting agenda, connecting to Grocery strategies, industry trends and GS1 emerging initiatives and/or protocol implementation health status
- Secure external subject matter expertise to ensure industry input and buy off by leading the community management process
- Lead and develop a team of highly performing colleagues charged with delivering value to the Data Recipient constituents within the Grocery sector with a focus on Grocery Board member organizations
- Collaborate with peers within the Industry Relations to enable achievement of Industry Relations team goals, vision, and strategic directions, demonstrating GS1 Canada values
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong understanding of business processes, issues, and opportunities within different business sectors
- At least 15 years of related experience and training / continuous ongoing development
- Demonstrated leadership skills and achievements that will effectively gain the confidence and support of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to operate in an environment dedicated to serving and bettering industry as a whole
- Proven influencing skills with the ability to effectively facilitate dialogue and communicate with a wide variety of people at all levels to advance business priorities
- Penchant to stay on top of industry trends and arising business issues, with ability to translate those into opportunities for industry advancement
- Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Undergraduate university degree (Bachelor or Honors Bachelor) in Business Management, Commerce, or a related field
- Strong sense of urgency to deliver metrics and aptitude to think creativity to overcome barriers
- Strong “people first” approach to team leadership and development
- Ability to operate at a strategic level, contributing both vision and tactical capabilities, combined with the ability to translate strategic objectives into executable actions, delivering to targets
