We are currently seeking experienced candidates for the position of Senior Technical Analyst. The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education. Salary


The salary range for this classification is $6,686 to $12,947 per month.


The anticipated salary hiring range is up to $11,965 per month, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Analyst/Programmer - Expert


Position Information


The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Senior Technical Analyst to be responsible for technical lead, coordination, and administration of all release activities for the Application Development Team. This position will work with functional and technical teams, consultants, and other departments to create software release and update packages, create and update documentation, and apply maintenance packs to be deployed to the campuses. This position will also perform database cloning activities as needed. The position will also play a lead role in upgrading the PeopleSoft application system and PeopleTools version as needed to stay in compliance with Oracle's support window. This role also serves as the point of contact for infrastructure-related upgrades by Technical Services such as Cobol, Linux, and Oracle releases. The Senior Technical Analyst will provide technical expertise in the packaging of Maintenance Packs releases, documentation, and production support of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Common Human Resources systems (CHRS) as well as the Common Finance System (CFS) for 23 campuses and the Chancellor's Office (CO).


Responsibilities


Under the general direction of the Associate Director, Application Operations, the Senior Technical Analyst will:


  • Provide technical expertise in the planning and management of maintenance packs.
  • Support and peer review of PeopleSoft technical development using People Tools, Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, Process Scheduler, Data Mover, etc.
  • Collaborate with other internal CMS teams as appropriate to understand and resolve campus application issues.
  • Document and reconcile all application development work targeted for the maintenance pack releases with Service-now tickets and the MRF database.
  • Lead and provide technical expertise in the downloading, security, migration, and packaging of all CSU updates and fixes as well as Oracle Images into the maintenance packs; responsible for the creation of the related documentation as needed by the campuses to apply these maintenance packs into non­production instances.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation required to support the CSU Oracle/PeopleSoft v9.2 CFS, CS, and CHRS system.
  • Lead the implementation of new CMS Release Management policies and procedures as needed.
  • Undertake special projects as directed.
  • Produce deliverables that adhere to quality standards and comply with CMS procedures and practices.
  • Lead coordinator for the upgrade or modernization of the PeopleSoft application system and Oracle or PeopleTools version as needed to stay in compliance with Oracle's support window.
  • Provide expert technical production support for the 23 CSU campuses by analyzing and troubleshooting campus application issues reported through Service-now help desk tickets. Adhere to published Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and IS procedures. Will coordinate PeopleSoft updates, fixes, upgrades, and installations. May advise campus programmers on technical development, environment control, and maintenance issues.


Qualifications


This position requires:


  • Proficient hands-on experience with PeopleTools 8.57 (or above) is required, but PeopleTools 8.59 is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of technical experience working with one or more of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Financial, or HCM applications, version 9.2 or above.
  • Must be a team player, and the ability to multi-task is required.
  • This position requires a BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as well as course work in PeopleTools and one or more of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Financial and/or HCM application.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of the PeopleSoft security structures.
  • Must possess proficient expertise in PeopleSoft Update Manager Strategy (PUM) and Change Assistance for the downloading and migration of Oracle images and fixes.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills; a strong service-oriented attitude with excellent customer service skills required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Proficient working knowledge in creating release packages, including multiple updates such as CSU customizations and Oracle images/fixes to be deployed to internal and external campuses.
  • Expert proficiency in programming and/or database management and application security; completed coursework in Oracle/PeopleSoft technical development and administration.
  • Excellent written and advanced verbal communication skills (including exceptional listening, mentoring, and collaboration abilities) needed to work effectively with a wide variety of CMS clients and internal teams.
  • Expert proficient experience with tools such as Upgrade Change Assistant, SQR, PeopleTools, configuration manager, process scheduler, Cobol compilation, and PeopleCode version 9.2 or higher.
  • API/Integration experience preferred.
