Background & Purpose of the Job

The Unilever Canada Ice Cream business includes such well-loved brands as Ben and Jerry’s, Magnum, Popsicle and Breyers. In this role, you will drive valuable analytics and influence decision-making within the cross-functional Ice Cream team to achieve our business goals. As part of Unilever Canada’s Ice Cream Finance team, you will report to its Head of Finance.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

Financial Analytics to Drive Profitable Growth

• Review performance vs plans and understand variances to ensure appropriate actionable to further accelerate results or address issues
• Ensure the various areas of investment (trade, marketing, etc.) are being optimized in terms of their returns by providing robust and actionable ideas
• Provide an unbiased view of business risks and opportunities and evaluate trade-offs considering both short and long-term business targets
• Undertake special and ad-hoc projects to improve portfolio assortment, pricing and promotional strategies or profitability
• Implement continuous improvement principles and simplification initiatives to improve financial/business processes while ensuring the integrity of financial data
• Lead insightful, fact-based decision-making through objective analysis and knowledge of our consumers and customers within cross-functional Ice Cream team
• Lead development of robust innovation business cases to accelerate profitable growth through evaluating alternatives, key assumptions and ensure plans are re-aligned with relevant strategies
• Business partner with cross-functional teams, make recommendations, influence senior. partners
• Lead financial assessment and control of our royalties and sales equipment processes / budgets

What You’ll Need To Succeed

• Business acumen: Understanding of the FMCG industry and the challenges and be able to rapidly absorb new information, knowledge and apply new techniques, technology, and procedures
• Ability to combine multiple and different data points to draw conclusions
• Team Working: Demonstrate commitment to the team in helping it achieve its goals and proactively share best practice, ideas and insights with colleagues
• IT and Communication Skills: Excellent level of computer literacy (incl. Excel, PowerPoint & SAP, Power BI) and numeracy skills, and professional communication skills for all levels of the organization.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or a professional accounting qualification (CPA, CIMA, ACCA etc.) is preferred but not compulsory with 2+ years of relevant finance experience
• Apply systematic approach to identify and eliminate root causes
• Analytical thinking / problem solving ability
• Motivation and drive: Ambitious to hit personal targets and standards and act to remove basic blocks to progress without waiting for others to do it
• A strong knowledge of managerial accounting concepts
• Sees problems through to a complete solution beyond the immediate next step
• Understand Canadian Retail landscape
