Our company is experiencing rapid growth and is currently undergoing a transitional phase in which scalability has become an essential factor. As a result, we are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to help build and enhance our accounts payable (AP) and operating expenses (OPEX) management processes in addition to managing a team of junior accountants.

We are looking for a unique individual who can wear two hats - Accounting and Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire AP flow (including but not limited to data inputs and timely/efficient AP environment), OPEX management, preparing related accruals, and managing AP team. This person will be an integral part of building a world-class accounting function within our Finance department.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a team of accountants – providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures while maintaining data accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and analyze AP and OPEX reports to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements.
• Provide external audit support during year-end close.
• Develop and maintain standardized working paper templates to improve the flow of information while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and completeness in financial reporting.
• Identify possible weaknesses and support implementation of systems/processes to close any process gaps in conjunction with the financial policies of the company and ASPE.
• Review and approve invoices for payment, ensuring proper coding and documentation.
• Own the AP and OPEX reporting process, including review of accounting policies and month-end close.
• Participate in projects that improve the accounting close cycle and/or support business decision making.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to vendor invoices and payments.
• Perform annual, monthly, and quarterly trend, ratio, aged payables analyses, as well as month-over-month variance analyses of AP and related operating expenses.
• Own monthly close reporting for AP and OPEX accounting and drive any ad-hoc reporting requests.
• Provide insight and assist in implementing additional internal controls and processes.
• Develop and implement procedures to ensure both accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices.
• Prepare month-end reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, researching issues and resolving discrepancies.
• Oversee junior accountants in booking journal entries, account for nonrecurring events, and coach them as they take on more complex tasks such as month-end adjustments and reconciliations.

Requirement

• Open and flexible to changes as the organization is growing and daily tasks may vary accordingly.
• Strong knowledge of accounting/finance processes including month-end close, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in A/P and/or accounting roles.
• Problem-solver who identifies process deficiencies and finds solutions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Experience with MS Office and accounting software.
• Working knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under ASPE and/or IFRS.
• Experience working in a multi-currency environment.
• Possesses a process-oriented mindset to resolve process gaps and automating tasks to enhance efficiency.
• Strong proficiency with Excel formulas and functions.
• Strong accounting skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize effectively.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Working towards a CPA designation or other designations.
• Experience with Google G-Suite products.
• Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365) or other cloud-based accounting software.
