Financial Analyst, Operations Jobs

This position is a short-term contract (6 months) with potential to be extended or transitioned to full time.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Financial Analyst, Operations is responsible for operational and organizational support to business operations and projects.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Partners with key stakeholders on departmental & project spend, coordinating recurring touchpoints and collaborating on forecasts; value-add focus
• Acts as the central figure within Finance leading projects and maintains monthly forecasts for operating expenses at the Bank
• Reviews and improves existing processes and interactions ("finance journeys")
• Creates reports in Adaptive Insights and Tableau (dashboards, reports) for executive consumption
• Develops and optimizes the expense allocation model, ensuring that costs incurred by the organization are accurately and equitably allocated to respective departments
• Coordinates between Reporting and other departments to understand what is driving spend variances and assess impacts
• Provides expertise as the subject matter expert on Tableau, developing insightful dashboards on operational expense and project spend
• Provides commentary on variances to budget/forecast
• Collaborates with project managers to create project investment theses; analyze the financial impact of new initiatives/strategic business decisions

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:

• The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration and an accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CA, MBA, or CFA)

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

• Advanced Excel user and experience working with cloud planning platforms including Adaptive Insights, Salesforce, Tableau etc. Experience with Alteryx considered an asset.
• The position requires at least 2-3 years demonstrated working experience providing trusted and accurate financial analysis (in a financial services environment an asset.)
• Strong communicator, able to present technical topics to senior management clearly
• Strong financial acumen (IFRS.)
• Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
