Job Description
What You’ll Do
  • Development of Divisional, LOB (2-3yr), BusCat (1yr) strategic plans.
  • Work with VPs and AVPs to develop 2-3-year strategies and then work with Merchandise Teams to translate strategies into assortment plans.
  • Support the adherence of assortment planning and meeting the high level KPIs established at the Senior Management level.
  • Lead the ongoing refinement and integration of the Category Management Framework across cross-functional groups, ensuring any necessary updates to incorporate changing business needs
  • Refinement and integration of the Category Management Framework
  • Assist in the annual refreshes of the Framework to reflect updated market data.
  • Support the development of the Assortment Framework and its roll-out across the organization including the Extended Assortment, Endless Isle and Cross Banner approval process.
  • Development and roll-out of the Assortment Framework
  • Support the development and roll-out of the end-to-end Assortment Planning Process
  • Aid in the development and execution of new technologies.
  • Assist in process development, working with cross-functional teams to ensure integration with existing processes and tools
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and making decisions without full information.
  • Post-secondary university education, preferably in business
  • Lead the end to end Assortment Planning Process, including:
  • Support adhoc strategic analysis through industry, competitive, and consumer research.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a retail organization with proven strategy development experience.
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel (Access skills are an asset)
  • Project management skills – planning, prioritizing, delegating, influencing, and tracking. Note that formal project management qualifications are not required.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills - both written and verbal; must be comfortable presenting to and leading discussions with senior management.
  • Support validation and triage activities for strategic priorities through to category planning and sku level assortments, ensuring that KPI interactions are understood and that gaps to CTR financial and assortment plan KPIs are identified. Analyzing the financial viability of the product assortment and providing recommendations for gap closure.
  • Establishing the planning cadence, timelines and level of assortment plan required for a specific business
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate peers and cross-functional resources without direct authority.
  • Managing the Business Category level planning process and leading AVP, CBM and cross-functional review meetings.
  • Ability to work independently. Motivated self-starter who displays strong initiative and out-of the box thinking.
  • This is a Hybrid position with the opportunity to work both at home and in-office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an understanding of KPI interactions (cause & affect financials). Well-developed understanding of business levers and their impact on key financial metrics.
