What will you work on?


The Senior Financial Cost Analyst role will serve as the finance business partner providing support to Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Supply Chain teams. Reporting directly to the Operations Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for leading the product cost accounting process, price product variance (PPV), import export cost accounting, financial reporting, sourcing analysis, internal controls, and projects. This role will verify they are compliant with accounting standards. This is a dynamic hands-on role requiring successful candidates to demonstrate critical thinking, dealing with ambiguity and the ability to succeed in fast-paced environments.


How will you create impact?


COGS Accounting Management and Reporting


  • Review and validate product cost components, source list and overhead keys for new products.
  • Prepare and analyze PPV (Purchase Price Variance) variances, including recommendations to effectively manage the PPV differences as well as other COGS variances, inbound freight, duties.
  • Manage SAP annual cost run process and as required for new products.
  • Ownership of COGs accounts, COGs General Ledger and COGs journal entries. Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOMs), Ex Factory cost, 3rd party cost, Interco cost analyzing the accounting impact on the balance sheet.
  • Support Brand Finance with monthly COGS variances analysis - global regional, brand level and support supply chain team reworks reporting and spend control.
  • Continuous improvement in costing and business process, partnering with Data Governance, Internal Control and Regional Finance and Operations group to find efficiency, improve COGS accuracy.
  • Support varies COGS projects development and testing phases.
  • Strong understanding for cost components (ex-factory cost, Inland, Ocean, Inbound, Duties, Brokerage)
  • Troubleshoot costing and intercompany purchase issues that arise from daily operations while complying with IFRS for standard costing requirement.


Governance Controls


  • Create reports documenting audit findings.
  • Support proper internal controls relating to Operation processes are in place, documented and operating effectively.
  • Collaborate with Internal Control to develop and update SOPs as well as collaborate on audits to ensure the company or individual is not in breach of any of the Canadian accounting standards or requirements.


Inventory Management and Reporting


  • Monthly Balance sheet reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and reliability of general ledger/trial balance for the inventory accounts.
  • Support on conducting physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
  • In collaboration with the Operations team, analyze and investigate inventory adjustments, reporting and analysis for North America.

  • Ability to showcase strong self-initiative to operate independently and to seek process improvements while using creative problem solving for business issues.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and good documentation skills to develop, maintain and sustain cradle to grave business processes SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).


What are your skills and experience?


  • Working towards CPA or equivalent accounting designation
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced level Excel skill (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and advanced formulas) are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI) coupled with SAP experience is an asset.
  • Supply Chain experience desirable.
