We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate Senior Category Manager who will be accountable for informing business decisions in the assigned category area(s) by utilizing subject matter expertise to develop a specific category strategy in line with the needs of the organization and executing on complex and/or high-risk sourcing events, contracts etc. As the most senior team member, the Senior Category Manager provides guidance, instruction and subject matter expertise to team members.


YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME


Reporting to the Director Category Management, you will be empowered to:


Category & Specification Strategy


  • Support divisional end users for the assigned category area(s) to provide consistent, knowledgeable advisor services.
  • Use tools and techniques to profile, benchmark, research and assess the market for assigned category area(s), risks, competition, trends and new opportunities in order to ensure Category Plans remain relevant.
  • Direct cross-functional teams using analysis of historical spend data, market research and cost modeling to identify and leverage high value opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable value, operational efficiencies and risk mitigation to the business.
  • Utilize reports and insights in order to identify savings opportunities.
  • Leverage insights, supplier relationships and performance that informs business decision making.
  • Develop category and sourcing strategies for the lines of business (digital, retail lottery, and land-based casino) to lead the applicable divisions to make more informed operating decisions through fact-based research and in-depth qualitative analysis.
  • Maintain and update, as necessary, the Category Sourcing Plan to ensure strategies remain relevant to industry trends and balanced with division driven initiatives
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies and oversee the finalization of commercial agreements with suppliers through an end-to-end Source to Contract methodology.


Supplier Selection


  • Execute sourcing events (RFx) to select vendor(s) for contract negotiation. Leverage alternate approaches to best support an efficient and transparent procurement process such as eProcurement tools & technology.
  • Recommend the favorable sourcing approach, taking into consideration feedback from the divisional end users, the overall category strategy, market insights and previous sourcing events, and conducts/coordinates the selected tendering approach on their behalf to drive optimal third-party vendor relationships based on requirements.


Supplier & Contracts Management


  • Negotiate and support finalization of commercial agreements with suppliers though end to end Source to Contract.
  • Proactively identify and/or support exit or transition strategies and socializes it with the divisional end users as individual contracts conclude.
  • Manage existing contracts to ensure supplier performance, contract compliance, and optimization of contract terms.
  • Execute and update, with support from the divisional end users, a vendor scorecard or alternative vendor performance approach, where relevant, and participates in joint periodic review with the supplier and the divisional representatives against contractual terms & conditions.
  • Ensure that the necessary evidence of changes, amendments or any significant events or shortcomings on the front of performance of contractual obligations are addressed, retained for records and are resolved in accordance with the policies in place in the organization throughout the execution of contracts.


Relationship Management


  • Support operations improvement projects, including cost reduction, optimization, cost/benefit analyses.
  • Stay up to date with market trends to ensure the business is being supported in the right way, by the right vendors.
  • Participate in relevant division business planning and review sessions to stay aligned with their priorities, current state of affairs, and upcoming changes.


Continuous Improvement


  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging LEAN type thinking to encouraged and recognize opportunities to generate and implement innovative ideas.


Leadership


  • Provide leadership to key stakeholders throughout the company and build relationships that facilitate the realization of delivering strategic and financial value.
  • Oversee work output, provide coaching and feedback to Category Managers and Senior Contract Specialists.
  • Lead business users through the sourcing process by demonstrating strong procurement knowledge and necessary meeting management skills.
  • Lead by example by focusing on personal career development and pursuing opportunities to increase relevant knowledge and skills
  • Foster an environment that encourages employee engagement and motivates team members to perform at their very best.


What You Need To Play


Work Experience: 5 - 7 years sourcing experience leading large complex procurement projects; experience with spend analytics and identifying savings opportunities; experience in reviewing competitive documents against vendor proposals


Education: University Degree (Supply Chain or Business preferred); SCMA Certification an asset


Knowledge: Knowledge of the source to contract process; in depth knowledge of outsourcing process such as IT and business-related processes; knowledge of procurement law and/or procurement practices; sound knowledge of all OLG operations in relation to procurement and contractual requirements and/or government procurement would be an asset


Critical Skills: Strong analytical skills, including using Excel to analyze procurement spend; excellent stakeholder management skills to lead cross functional teams; strong negotiation skills; excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills; results oriented individual with superior customer service skills and proven ability to work in a team environment; skilled in market research to identify trends and opportunities; skilled in contract negotiations and editing
