The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Provincial Culture and Heritage Coordinator position within our Culture & Heritage Department located at 150 Henry Ave in Winnipeg, MB. The Provincial Culture and Heritage Coordinator will assist to research, plan, coordinate, and implement various culture and heritage initiatives including special events undertaken by the MMF.
Job Duties/Competencies

• Provide ongoing analysis and evaluation of all event outcomes;
• Reconcile financials;
• Research and collect information pertaining to special events and pursue funding opportunities;
• Establish relationships & networks throughout the community that shall benefit Métis Citizens.
• Draft departmental correspondence including reports, briefings, etc.;
• Assist with the development of event planning in accordance with current organizational needs;
• Follow through of strategies for successful event completion;
• Provide hand-son coordinating and managing of special events;
• Collect, compile and present comprehensive reports for internal and external sources;

Skills And Qualifications

• Extensive experience in drafting correspondence and preparing reports;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
• Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Excellent oral communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Special events training;
• Experience as a Program Coordinator or relevant position with a focus in event planning;
• Bachelor of Arts or related discipline in event planning or project management;
