Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview


In a fast-paced, multicultural environment, and under the general guidance of the Manager, the incumbent ensures the efficient delivery of high-quality and effective trained interpreter services. The incumbent assists in supporting and coordinating a competent complement of trained interpreters to meet service demands by assisting with recruitment and education needs, and by assisting with day-to-day coordination and evaluation of services.


Main Functions Include

  • Administrative.


Experience


  • Experience in staff recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, evaluation.


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Post secondary degree/diploma or other recognized training in interpretation/translation will be considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in health/social services and/or management or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certification/Licensure/Registration


  • Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle is considered an asset.


Qualifications And Skills


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize a complex workload to meet daily departmental requirements and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, and to work collaboratively across sectors (e.g. Health, Social Services, Justice, Education).
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity as it relates to clients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Subject to a Criminal Record Check.
  • Proficiency in computerized systems (Windows environment, word processors, spreadsheets, databases).
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and issues related to language barriers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of interpreter code of ethics and standards of practice.
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment.
