Educator For High Ability Learner
**Applicants must be a professional educator or a current student of educational studies
Under the guidance of an experienced Gifted & Talented Educator, we are looking to support our calm, curious, and stimulating home learning environment for our young high-ability learner son.
This part-time opportunity would be ideally suited to a Gifted & Talented Educator who is accustomed to shaping higher-level materials appropriate for the age of their students.
Our ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, innovative, patient, and passionate teacher. Our home is located in North York, ON. A parent will always be present during lessons to assist where necessary. This exciting position offers hours from Monday to Thursday 9:00 AM to 12:00 with an hourly rate of $45-65.00 depending on experience plus a discretionary bonus.
You would be responsible for building and implementing lesson plan curricula based on the best practices for gifted and talented students. While creating an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of our son to his fullest potential, you will collaborate to foster a strong emphasis on creativity, confidence, compassion, and individual responsibility.
Responsibilities and Attributes
Candidates must be:
- Experienced implementing rigorous curriculum to differentiate instruction and implement various instructional practices that are developmentally, academically and intellectually appropriate
- Prepared to individualize and modify instruction as necessary and relate to the unique education needs of advanced students
- Experienced in teaching gifted children
- A member, in good standing, of the Ontario College of Teachers
- Committed to continued professional learning
- Able to demonstrate a history of dedication, responsibility, reliability, flexibility, integrity, and creativity
- Compassionate with a focus on student diversity and well-being
- Creative in material making and environmental design
- Multilingual (this would be considered advantageous)
- Professional and positive role model to children
- Experienced integrating instructional technology as developmentally appropriate
