Job Summary:

S.R.T. MedStaff is currently looking for an Education Specialist for our Personal Support and Nursing Programs. The Educator or Education Specialist must be a nurse (Registered Nurse RN or Registered Practical Nurse RPN) and is accountable for the assessment, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of education for the organization's community teams (nursing and personal support). This includes the ongoing provision of clinical support and expertise regarding current best practices in the community and facility setting.

Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with the Supervisors and Professional Practice Leaders, evaluates the effectiveness of service and treatment plans through on-site visits and consultation with all staff
• In collaboration with the Director, Community Programs and the Human Resources (HR) Department, develops, modifies, and enhances the orientation process for the Community Programs
• Ensures each patient receives patient and family centered care
• Fulfills the educatory role to ensure that S.R.T. MedStaff complies with its general duty specific responsibilities to take all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of its frontline staff who provide care and service to our patients
• Participates in the Quality Management Program, identifying issues and trends and, in collaboration with the Director, Quality and Performance, formulates and implements quality improvement initiatives
• Attends safety meetings, in-services, and training initiatives
• Ensures that orientation materials are maintained and current with changing LHIN requirements
• Supports staff in the provision of effective and safe clinical care and service

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience, preferably including community experience
• Previous educatory/management experience is an asset
• Working knowledge of the principles of adult education
• Meet health requirements of the Public Hospitals Act
• Valid Ontario Drivers License
• Current CPR (BCLS) Certificate
• VSS within one year of hire demonstrating absence of a criminal history/record
• Experience working as a clinical educator or nurse consultant is an asset
• Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (RN)/ Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
• Post-Secondary Degree Preferred
