Summary:
Title: HR Assistant
Employment Type: Contract (90 days contract)
Hours: 7.5 hours per day / 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid in Ottawa and/or Gatineau (2 days a week on-site)
Salary: $55,543

About this role:
The HR Assistant will support Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) by providing excellent and efficient administrative assistance and data entry for their team to enable them to make dynamic and exciting HR decisions.
Core Tasks
In this job, you will:
  • Ensures data integrity, verifies and maintains compliance of processes and completeness of HR files.
  • Coordinates, prepares, reviews and processes a variety of HR actions including receiving and reviewing client requests, identifying discrepancies or omissions, determining priorities, following up and processing requests.
  • Provides administrative support to clients and HR Advisors by scheduling interviews, examinations/testing, by preparing correspondence and generating approval documents.
  • Responds to inquiries, conducts research, as well as explains options and implications. Provides information and guidance on the administrative and documentation requirements of procedures relating to the HR functions, as well as on the status of HR action requests.
  • Gathers information, compiles, verifies, and inputs data related to HR into human resources information systems, as well as maintain files, records and correspondence of the work in progress.
General Skills and Abilities:
  • Writing skills are required for routine correspondence addressed to managers, employees or members of the public and to respond to inquiries and to complete forms or format letters.
  • Communications skills to liaise with stakeholders such as the Pay Centre, departmental security officers, colleagues from other HR disciplines, and with other government departments including the Public Service Commission in order to obtain the required information to complete HR actions and verify data integrity.
  • Communication skills to provide information, obtain clarification and additional information, and explain options and implications to clients, employees, managers, colleagues and candidates (internal and external) regarding regulations, guidelines and procedures, as well as to provide information on HR actions and requests.
  • Knowledge of time management and prioritizing methods and techniques to ensure efficient workload, organize own work and decide on priorities in order to provide quality services to managers, employees and clients.
