Description


We are seeking a Junior HR Generalist with experience in an Education, Public Sector, Unionized environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing HR support and assistance in various areas, including recruitment process, employee relations, collective agreement interpretation, and HRIS management. The ideal candidate should have a strong analytical mindset, the ability to multitask, and excellent teamwork skills. This position requires a solid understanding of collective agreements, experience with HRIS systems, and proficiency in software applications such as Excel, Word, and Google Docs.


Recruitment And Selection


  • Collaborate with managers to create job postings and update job descriptions according to collective agreements.
  • Assist in screening resumes, conducting interviews, and checking references.
  • Support managers in the selection decision-making process.
  • Coordinate pre-employment checks, including criminal record checks and education verifications.


Employee Relations And Collective Agreements


  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in labor laws and regulations.
  • Interpret and apply unionized collective agreements to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with union representatives to address employee concerns and negotiate solutions.


Offboarding And Terminations


  • Conduct exit interviews and provide recommendations for improvement based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with managers to ensure smooth transitions and knowledge transfer.
  • Facilitate the offboarding process for departing employees, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.


Accommodations And HR Administration


  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics for management review.
  • Process employee accommodations requests in accordance with applicable laws and collective agreements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS system.


Requirements


Qualifications:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Excel, Word, and Google Docs.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Previous experience in an Education, Public Sector, Unionized environment is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of collective agreements and their application.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • HR Generalist experience
