The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Director, Research and Planning to join the Online Brokerage and Digital Wealth team.

This role can be mostly remote, however we will on occasion require you to come onsite to our office at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON.

Reporting to the SVP, Head of Online Brokerage and Digital Wealth, the Director, Research and Planning is responsible for providing leadership, coordination for the implementation of Digital Wealth business planning process, research initiatives, and effectiveness activities. This leader will focus on aligning market and client opportunity insights that positively impact the Digital Wealth business in collaboration with internal key stakeholders. The Director leads the business Annual planning efforts, prioritization committee, strategy review committees, executive leadership meetings and other required cross-functional committees. The Director also provides leadership and coordination for all research requirements related to the Digital Wealth business, including assisting teams in the follow through of application of key research findings.

What your day looks like:

Strategic Planning

• Provides thought leadership to advance the business forward in meeting its objectives
• Leads research needs collaborating with Digital Wealth team members and identifies new opportunities for the business
• Works closely with senior management in leading, directing and coordinating the Annual strategic planning process for the Digital Wealth business
• Liaison and consultation with key members of the Digital Wealth team and key internal stakeholders to ultimately produce the annual operating and initiatives plan for the Digital Wealth business. This includes developing and managing the planning process, timelines and reporting format
• Leads key committees for the Business and ensures the delivery of the Business operating plan

Operating Management

• In collaboration with SVP, prepares material for board of directors and Aviso Executive committee on business updates and strategic discussions
• In collaboration with team members, identifies areas of risk and opportunities
• Leads and manages the intake and triage process for new initiative requests for presentation to the Digital Wealth prioritization committee
• Demonstrates progress against business plans, articulating benefit realization and identifying future opportunities in collaboration with Digital Wealth team members
• Establishes governance and operating model for committees and its members
• Maintains the status of the master initiative priority calendar to review with SVP
• Provides thought leadership in proactively addressing gaps, risks and opportunities for the business in consultation with Digital Wealth leadership team members
• Leads all committees for the Digital Wealth business to drive the operating plan forward. This includes preparation of material for committees in consultation with key members to lead the Digital Wealth prioritization committee, Operating Committee, Strategy review committee, and Executive Leadership
• Closely partners will all key internal stakeholders (product strategy, acquisition and engagement team, sales, marketing, service center, finance, analytics) to ensure alignment and coordination of plans
• Works with Marketing and Communications to identify and coordinate earned media opportunities and execution of plans within Digital Wealth team
• Coordinates with senior management to create executive summary of business reviews for the monthly Executive Leadership team

Research

• Provides thought leadership in stitching together research findings from different stakeholders to identify trends and forward-looking insights
• Works with industry research providers to identify requirements and manages vendor relationships
• Research the marketplace to identify trends and opportunities for growth. This can mean identifying new markets or new opportunities within existing markets
• Actively communicates findings/insights to Digital Wealth team members for possible implications to business operating plan
• Leads research efforts on behalf Digital Wealth in collaboration with key stakeholders

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

• Proven ability in working with ross functional owners to obtain plans and create holistic business operating plan for the business
• Strong analytical skills and proven ability to turn insights into actionable plans
• Critical thinking skills are a must to uncover opportunities and go beyond the surface of issues
• Experienced influencing internal partners
• Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
• Excellent leadership ability
• Demonstrated ability to understand competitive dynamics, identify business opportunities and develop market strategies.
• At least 10 years’ experience in senior level roles in planning and business management. A strategy business leader in the financial services sector
