We are looking for a Sr. Manager, FP&A to be the champion of this by providing insightful predictions and analytics that directly influence the company’s future direction. The Sr. Manager, FP&A will be a strategic business partner to the entire organization, alongside partnering with myself and our COO in the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes at the company.

The opportunity


The Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will work closely with department leaders across the organization to drive financial analysis, planning and providing insight to business leaders to drive strategic and data-driven decision making.


Budget and Forecast


  • Partner with VP, Finance & Planning and Manager, Financial Reporting to translate forecasting results to cash flow forecast
  • Lead quarterly (op-ex), monthly and weekly (sales to contribution margin) re-forecasting activities, monitoring progress and changes, and keeping senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
  • Play a lead role in our annual budgeting cycle, including its extension into the company’s rolling three-year financial model


Reporting and Insights


  • Liaise with cost centre owners (Ecommerce, Wholesale, Brand, Brand Creative, Product Development) to provide comprehensive overviews of their monthly op ex. spend, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Prepare and report on Consolidated Weekly Sales results in partnership with our Junior Planner; analyze and report on key insights to contextualize performance
  • Develop reports for product category, sales channel & customer profitability
  • Partner with our Manager, Financial Reporting at month-end and quarter-end to review financial output for reasonableness, understanding key drivers of costs and variances. Provide commentary around op. ex and balance sheet variances for our reporting packages (including key drivers of variance).
  • Maintain and update the company’s consolidated Sales to Contribution Margin Forecast by Sales Channel; work closely with sales channel leads to translate/reflect changes based on promotions, product launches, delivery delays, warehouse delays, ad spend etc.


Analytics


  • Support decision making on capital expenditure projects, product category expansion, new initiative discussions by developing ROI and Break Even Analysis
  • Prepare Ad Hoc Analyses that may arise to help contextualize performance of various business initiatives
  • Extract, analyze, and use data to build analysis, metrics, and business cases to support decision making using various sources.


Improvements


  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing and VP Finance & Planning team to develop and implement a system that tracks and integrates our customer cohort, LTV, digital ad spend, CAC, repeat rate, metrics with our short-term and long-term sales forecast.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to improve how we share company analytics; be a key partner in developing and implementing a new management reporting tool (metrics & dashboards) and new analytics solutions, including reports, dashboards, and other items as required by the business unit(s).

What you bring to the table


  • Retail industry, specifically D2C experience is a plus;
  • Bachelor's degree is required, CPA, and/or CFA are a plus;
  • Build partnerships and prioritize collaboration across the JENNY BIRD team;
  • Demonstrated outstanding financial leadership skills and expertise with an emphasis on translating financial insights into operational recommendations; proven success in presenting information in an concise and easy to digest format
  • Challenge the status quo by contributing impactful ideas and solutions;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment through self-prioritization; can quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • A go-getter with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively at all levels throughout the organization.
  • 3+ years (preferred) in Forecasting, Financial Analytics, Budgeting, Financial Modeling;

Location:


  • Our office is located in downtown Toronto at 507 King Street East.
  • We have flexible working arrangements for the team. This role requires you to be in the office 1-2 days a week.
